Yeah, but you are missing the "is the" in the beginning, so I thin k"in the market" is correct instea dof "on the market" or am I wrong?

Hi Bacco
It is a small showcard with original string in the loops. The printer is Creswell, Nottingham. The sign was found in the top floor roof space of the former Alton cigar factory on Derby Road, Canning Circus area of Nottingham. This building was originally a lace factory before being taken over by Alton's. This sign was the only one of its type to be found at Alton's before it was closed and turned into flats. This was the place where all those 'Belar' cigar signs were discovered. There was other rarer stuff found as well including Prince Leopold showcards, Belar and Roseberry enamel signs and Trente matchstrikers. I still have one of the enamel signs but sold the rest.
Cheers

 Hi FB,

Just a little more info to add to your details. E Alton & Co Ltd, Cigar Manufacturer, 158, Derby Rd, Nottingham NG7 2LU. Established in 1905 and specialised in Havana Tobacco cigars. The firm ceased trading around 1990 and as you say the premises were mothballed which continued for a number of years until the site was due for re-development. Those sent in to clear the premises found an amazing capsule with everything as it was when the firm closed.  There were thousands of cigar boxes, cigars awaiting packing, labels and printing blocks for branding. Many of the items were purchased by the "Sutton Windmill Museum" and put on show. They have now also closed and contents sold by DISS Auctions. The firms cigar trade list does not include your "High Lights" brand?????? Although the trade list I have is early 80s

Here are a couple of cigar related items from Dave Barker's collection.

The first is a Blackfriars Cigars showcard, in it's original frame:

and the second is a an advertising clock for 'Barker's/Noted Cigar Stores' with stained wood outer surround and cut brass lettering:

 Hi sign-seeker,

I like your "Blackfriars Cigars" framed showcard manufactured by W & F Faulkner, 128-130, Blackfriars Rd, London. SE 1, Established in 1838 so, quite an old company which joined the ITC in 1902. You can see the source of the brand name. I have posted this "Marcella" cigar framed showcard which is very humourous.

Many thanks for the info, Bacco. These do actually belong to Dave Barker, rather than me, sadly!
