 Hi FB,

That "Stirling Castle" looks in super condition and a bargain at £18. Have posted this Hargreaves, of Blackburn, "Honeyfall" tobacco tin. This firm was quite an old tobacco.cigarette company and had 2-3 retail outlets in Blackburn. Have posted some pictures of one of the shops with beautiful fitted mahogany display cabinets and counters. You can just make out the storage jars for loose tobacco now held at Blackburn Museum.

Thank's Bacco... love that Honeyfall tin - Great graphics and colours, just how I like tins. The photos of that Hargreaves shop are incredible, what an interior! Anything left of it I wonder? The exterior would certainly be listed today.
Lovely showcard Jethro, thanks for showing.

 Hi Jethro,

That showcard is great and first I have seen from this company. Have posted another couple of pictures, another of the inside of the shop and one of the other shops as they had three retail shops in Blackburn. Your right FB, if that "Boulevard" shop still existed, it would have a preservation order slapped on it.

I was once tipped off about a tobacconists shop in Nottingham where builder's had lit a bonfire at the back and were burning showcards and sacks full of ciggy packets! On arrival it turned out that they had unlocked two rooms full of paper and card in sacks stored away during WW2 for salvage collection... never collected. The shop owner gave me permission to have the lot. The builder then said he'd taken a load of stuff home himself so I went round to his house and bought the lot. The shop owner then said you'd better have a look down the cellar. I did and found every sign that had ever been of the outside of the building... I bought the lot but couldn't remove a large player's hero enamel as it wouldn't fit through the hatch so there it still remains. Old postcards show that very sign on the wall of the building.

 Hi FB,

Great story and I know many opportunities I missed and allowed great items to go the tip because of lack of funds. Have posted this nice "Venetion" cigarette tin manufactured by Ogden's and used to top up cigarette cabinets with loose cigarettes sold by weight or displayed on the counter. The brand was introduced in 1897 and all these tins were disposable. Have also, posted small showcard for same brand.

(Broadie has another version of this brand but can;t find the photo)

Cheers hasbeen... you're a star - great condition. What a fabulous tin it is. I only know of three plus the one in Griffith's book which might possibly be this one? My Tiger Lily was in DG's book. Thanks for posting, made my day.

 Hi hasbeen,

Super tin and one I have never come across in the flesh. This is the other "Venetian" flake tin from Broadies collection. Never been able to establish the manufacturer. Also, from  Broadie this "Rose Grove" Honeydew tobacco tin in super condition. Your quite right FB, Ogden's did some great advertising.

 Glad you like them FB,

Here are a couple more from the Broadie collection.  "King Rufus" manufactured by Salmon & Gluckstein who produced some super tins. Also, paper-label for same brand.

The "CAP" flake tobacco tin was an Ogden's brand. Both very nice tins.
