Just spotted this on eBay. 3 bidders and currently at £52 (plus £11.50 postage). Am I missing something?

Only the fact that people who don't know what they're doing , are happy to pay up for total rubbish . |

These crusty (knackered) signs seem to get more popular. They are sold as having character, patina, age related wear. Just like the knackered mirrors sold by his nibs on Salvage Hunters. People want originality, no restoration, original paint. So cleverly written off signs and bangers like this now have a market. Think of all the crusty wrecks we’ve left behind. Now they have a value apparently. Times change, but condition is king for me, I don’t see it personally but a sign (no pun intended) of the times. |

These damaged signs are interesting to anyone with a bit of imagination. Considering this sign would be around £400-£500 in good nick I don’t think £52 is outrageous and in fact accurately reflects its condition. And no I’m not bidding on it. |

The only time I would consider paying for one of these, is if I had a mint one, then it would be neat to hang them side by side. I think it would be a neat effect. |

Yes it would be good to hang a few in a row. Yes Lummox an accurate reflection ... whether you think it’s a piece of shite or not doesn’t make any difference. It’s really simple: Mint one: £400-500 Knackered one: £52. Something like... the less good condition something is ...the less money it’s worth. But it still might be worth a bit if someone who doesn’t think it’s a piece of shite wants it. Hope that clears things up! |

It gets worse! This Pratts's Spirit has a BIN price of only £80. The seller says "A bit of treatment may well bring out the colour" !!!!
Makes the Stephens seem quite cheap...

It does'nt really clear it up at all A mint one would be alot more anyway Something with virtually no merit or visual appeal is worth nothing not £52 Alright for a spot board Also plenty of items where condition means absolutey nothing to value So there you have it !! you can clean up Shite but you could'nt clean up this sign so on reflection you are right its not in fact shite !! .......its worse than shite LOL lummox |

Meanwhile, there's a new bidder for the Stephens. Now up to £68. And still 4 days to go.
I wonder whether madness is yet another unrecognised symptom of Corona? |
