Some crazy prices for some of these ebay showcards ( not the ones shown here ) when you look at condition. This one has a good 4 inches missing from the left side and has already topped £400 !!!
Ebay no 254779207555 |

That's a big price for a trimmed showcard, wonder what a complete one would have fetched ? I see seller revised listing to say it was maybe trimmed although only by an inch, whereas actually it's missing more like 4 inches ! |

Totally agree
I adore these old ‘factory building’ illustration showcards for their architectural detail – right down to the people in the streets! I’m always on the hunt for biscuit and food related ones.
Even with the left side cut off, it's still a real beaut!

Thanks for comments, it's still quite a novelty being able to post pics on here. I couldn't do it with Internet Explorer but with Firefox there's no problem. Why??? Seen a few Jacobs but only the one C & B's. Probably pretty low survival rate as it's a poster on thick paper and wouldn't have been much use as a backing board for a print. |

Hey Collector
Snap on the Jacob’s. Also love your C&B!
Here’s one of my own favs – and it still has the original antique glass which was covered in old London coal soot when I got it! It's also a big thing being around a meter wide.

Another cracker ! Thanks for showing. I think these factory images are so good because they were intended to be around for a while, unlike the unframed hang ups which were changed pretty frequently. Peek Frean's must have kept their printer in business with the number of different showcards they issued, yet enamels don't seem that common. |

Fantastic photos ! I agree collector, I was having the same problem with trying to load pictures with internet explorer, I have ne problems now with Chrome. I don't know if others are like me and have got a lot of sites stored in their favourites. What I HATE ! about google chrome is that you can't lock the favourites bar? what a joke ! I can't believe they haven't put up an update to fix the problem, seems absurd. |

Hi Meiki, thanks for your pics, it's nice to see a complete example of the Gallaghers showcard. You have 3 nice Marsh's showcards there as well, not seen the factory one before. I assume you're based in Ireland so perhaps you could find me a nice example of the Gallaghers Park Drive showcard with the dark haired smoking lady !!! Been after one for 35 years, I framed one for someone once and had first option to buy if he parted with it. Of course he sold it to someone else ! Re the sorry state of some of the showcards going through ebay I can only think there's some new collectors who don't care too much about condition. Perhaps there's been a knock on effect from the tatty enamels that seem to be fetching good prices these days ??? |
