I thought this was quite nice "Three Clasps Cigarettes" manufactured by Salmon & Gluckstein. This firm was founded in 1845 at Crown Court, Soho, W, mainly to manufacture and sell cigars. Retail started about 1873 and were one of the first (1896) companies to manufacture cigarettes by machine. The factory-plant etc etc, were purchased by the ITC and the retail outlets proved to be a tremendous assett to the ITC. The firms tins are very colourful and much in demand by collectors. This "Three Clasp" cigarette box commemorates three campaigns "Ladysmith" - "Kimberley" - "Mafeking" and produced around 1900 and it is live.

 I have an interesting Ogden's  advertising piece from around 1900 .

A lead light stained glass panel depicting Kruger running away from Pretoria carrying a bag of bullion and a box of Ogden's

I remember you posting that stained glass panel which most certainly was a rarity. Would be nice to see it again!! Well noted Lummox, when you consider the quality of this firms tins and packets they seem to have cut corners with this one. Have posted a couple of photo's from 1890s of the shop in Clarence St EC1 when they claim to be the "Pioneers of Smoking". And couple of the tins to show the quality.

 What a fabulous old shop  . I think old photographs like those are what draws us to
collecting .  Just magic .  I'll find a photo of the lead light and post it on here

 Love that glass panel Relics and batleycarr, I do love looking at the old shops but conditions would be really rough during those days. Have posted another J Fraser shop front which won first prize for it's window display in 1897. Have also posted another couple of tins.
