These petrol pumps still stand in a small village in west Wales outside a derelict garage. I first saw them over 30 years ago, when the three pumps still had BP glass globes on them, even though the garage had been shut for a couple of years - I found the owner and he wouldn't sell. Then I couldn't find the place again! Until the year before last when I chanced upon it again by accident and took this picture.

The moral of the story - always write down an address or location or phone number - I'm still looking for another closed garage in mid-Wales where I spotted an old neon sign through a cobwebbed window, and a couple of months later it wasn't on the road I'd have SWORN it was on!

This is also to see if I can upload a photo to the site....wish me luck!

Over the years I have come across loads of old visible petrol bowsers, with the glass top bowls. I must know where there are at least 10 of them, will the farmer sell them ? Of course not, makes more sense to just let them rot into the ground ?

Thought I'd got the photo thing sussed, but now it adds them upside down or sideways.......

Anyway, this is a Bowser petrol pump I bought last year. It was installed at the garage in Trumpet in Herefordshire in 1924.   In 1957 they installed electric pumps and this was sold to a builders merchant in Hereford, and they used it until 1993. When some of the premises was demolished last year I spotted it and was able to do a deal - it even still has it's original key!
