Not sure if I posted these before but anyway for all those interested, see if you can guess the company name associated with the list of "Trade Marks" numbered  1-16. Answers week today.

Another guess, again after looking at my image archive...

#5

Westminster

An obscure and shortlived company it seems!!!

Any info about them?

 Hi philofumo,

You have done very well. Those missed No 3 Nicholas Sarony & Co London, taken over by Major Drapkin. Have no samples of this firm.

No: 5 Westminster Tobacco Co, became a member of the ITC in 1901. You can just see the enamel on the left in my annexe display.

No: 7 Adkin & Sons Ltd, London. Became member of the ITC in 1901 and absorbed the trade marks for J Brankston & Co.

No: 9 Fairweather & Sons, Dundee. Taken over by Godfrey Philips & Co. Early  Tin posted with paper label.

No 13 Lusby Ltd, taken over by Major Drapkin & C Ltd. Have posted one of their tins. Promoted healthy cigarette smoking?????

Well done.

 By the way...

...the Westminster brand continued long after the companys demise --- at some point they came under control of British American Tobacco and likewise the trademark was passed along to Orlik in Denmark back who themselves were then overtaken by Scandinavian Tobacco Co.

This tobacco review notes that in the later years it was packaged in a pouch and was only available in Switzerland:

www.tobaccoreviews.com/blend/5743/s...ng-mixture

:

Another neat note,

Hitchcock & Sarony -

the.hitchcock.zone/onlyamovie/2014/...hitchcock/

:

And another thing --- the British Trade Marks Journal is intensely interesting. A big book I was searching for when I was heavily into research regarding the origins of the sandblasted briar pipe so I really wanted 1916 or 1917 but all copies I could find were very very expensive. Finally found a 1910 copy for a good price but didn't help with the sandblast question, although it's enjoyable to browse regardless.

Here's a few of my faves that ain't tobacco related...

 Hi philofumo,

Thanks for your postings and links. It is nice to learn something new. Your "Trades Mark Journal" is nice and I assume quite rare. Have not come across one before.
