So , it appears that I can now upload to the site using both iPad and smartphone . I use Samsung Galaxy and both have worked . A definite improvement for those who don't use laptops or desktops .

 Hi, try as I might I still can't upload photos from my iPad, even our family "tech boffin " (every family has one ,) my daughter in law can't fathom it out, it's so frustrating as it's difficult to join in when not able to post photos, so until this problem is resolved I will be on the outside looking in ,as I suspect many of our members are in the same situation as I am, yet it's so easy to upload photos on EBay, emails, etc, I read posts recently about members not joining in ,always the same few contributing etc well maybe this problem is part of the reason, I love this forum for its depths of knowledge and everything that goes with it and don't want to see it decline.  Hi Albion . This problem with photo uploading is not part of the reason so few people post anything , it IS the reason , full stop . And it never gets addressed so it will never be solved .

As Ive said before, the reason some images won't upload from IOS devices is either the file size is too large (mostly would be this), or;
iPhones sometimes shoot images raw as HIAC filetypes not JPGS and the site software won't recognise them
