All quiet on the site so put these past bits on,  just found... All long since sold on (25-30 years ago) to raise cash for future buys..Then ,there was lots of advertising for sale everywhere....llittle cash on my part !!...Auction rooms ,fairs ,private sellers and antique shops/centres..Just 3 advertising figures remain, though just bought the  another country Life showcard 1907 ..The moon.. papier mache ,came from a sweet shop, opened in the Edwardian period..You wound it up and the eyes rolled and tongue came out.

Terrific pics. Did the girl end up getting the advertising bug later in life?

Thanks fot the comments..My daughter was only interested in any tin or advert that had a bird or animal on them..Particularly Sharps parrots (she has an African Grey).. The large Johnsons pure tea was a tea safe with a lock,.. when tea was a valuable commodity..All these last few  pictures date from the mid 1980s when my wife ran a general provision shop for 5 years  (broke even after 12 hours a day..6 days a week).

I put bits along the top of shelves. Customers were interest ..A nun customer kindly gave me a Smiths crisp tin . another the rowntrees "Courting " tin (sat on a seat) which I still have .....JackTempest did an artical including pics in March 85 Collectors Mart mag...those who remember it..Most items long gone (sadly)..Who now has the tea safe now ??..Sorry but some poor pictures

Thats it ,no more to bore you with. Elsecar next..Good excercise turning your head sideways !!

Hi, Ken, what a fantastic collection, really enjoyed looking at all your fabulous items. Particularly like the Crawfords bus biscuit tin , I have the Huntley & Palmers F A Cup biscuit tin 1927 , some prototypes were made but it was scraped when Reading FC got knocked out in the Semi-final, so none went into production,   Looking at your collection though I realise I haven't even scratched the surface yet !!! Cheers, Keith

I only really regret now parting with three bits

1)  The biscuit bus...lovely condition

2)  The mechanical moon which came out of an old sweet shop and was reputably said to have had advertising around the edge at one time..Any experts to confirm this ?

3) The orange and lemon syrup dispensers (I think american) bought at Del Montford hall Liecester antiques fair around 1982....I think now worth £1000 each..sold for £45 each, and I made a profit !!.....they are pictured on the pine mantlepiece

I know myself you sell somethings and do have certain regrets down the line, but life moves on.

Still waiting for those lotto numbers to drop, so I can really start collecting !
