I think many collectors have given up on harangueing salerooms offering 'dodgy' or repro items, sadly.

At the end of the day it makes GOOD sound sense if you spot any such to simply put your opinions in writing in a quick, polite, email. Keep note of the response.

Never give up trying to protect the very hobby we all enjoy, every little helps & it also helps potential newbies getting stung.

The saleroom which offered these told me they were not contacted by anyone prior? Did anyone advise?

I was in an antique shop on the weekend, they had a Garmier Blackcat for sale AU$1950. I went towards the counter to explain that it was a repo and then thought, I really can't be bothered dealing with a peanut that knows better.

It never ceases to amaze me that in every category of collecting where repros flood the market it very soon destroys the value of originals i.e. Carltonware Guinness, Staffordshire figures, etc. But incredibly that's not been the case with enamel signs, in fact prices have soared !
