I had been on the ride on mower since 7.30 am, then on the whipper snipper. Finished up about 2.45pm, walked into the house, grabbed a drink and then thought, I better check Gumtree and bang there it is. The guy had already had several offers on it. We agreed on a number before I would go for a drive to pick it up. Good thing I did, a woman offered double while I was driving up, to his credit, he said a deals a deal and now it's MINE !!

There are remnants of black lacquer here a there, so I believe it was originally all black.

I'm thinking I leave it as it is, what does the brains trust think ?

I'm also assumimg that the shelves that came in it are wrong ?

Were they originally just a clear glass.

Hi gordo . Leave it  as it is for a little while until you have had chance to think about it . It looks "lived -in " like it is , and there's nothing wrong with that . Yes ,the shelves are not original , it would have had thick , heavy  plate glass ones . you can soon get some cut if you want .

Yeah that's what I thought Marcus, pictures I could see on the net, all looked to be a thicker clear glass, which makes sense.

Nice one Gordo .. Yep .. Leave it as it is .
It will take on a new life when it is full of design and colour..
Shelves are fine , not original of course but doesn't matter after you fill it up .
Are you opening a " Grocers shop " ?
Don't forget to post the " after " picture .

By the way , I had a similar experience when I bought an  Arnotts chair recently . Agreed on the price and headed over to collect it . Before I got there someone offered 3 times my agreed price . Luckily , my seller was an honest woman and told me  " she just couldn't do it after we agreed a price "
It now sits in my  " shop "
I'll send you an email

Cheers .. Chris

I think I've missed the boat Chris,
I would love to have a shop set up, like you have got, looks awesome.
I did have a small collection of tins and chocolate boxes in our last place, the Missus said when we move, she didn't want the tins coming with us ?

Cheers Gordo

Help wanted.

Would this type of cabinet have had a pediment ?

I have come across this Frys pediment, minus the milk glass pods. But I noticed that the pediment is 70 cms long and my cabinet is only 67cms ?

Hi Gordo . There were various cabinet makers back then , so I would have thought it quite common for there to be cabinets of a different width . Just unlucky , the one you have shown has come off a wider cabinet , so is no use to you .
