Not advertising Obviously, but just spent a very moving, and interesting 3 day break in France & Belgium. Not particularly interested in Military history and items etc BUT it certainly brings you down to earth and makes you realise how lucky we are to be alive.
Also did a bit of field walking, ...which is allowed by local farmers, picture shows a friend of mine with half an hours haul. We decided not to move the big one too far !! or bring it back through the tunnel......boom ! 100 years ago, yet there is still stuff everywhere. The locals call it the ' iron harvest ' ! all the stuff that comes up in the spring ploughing season

Other pics, are Mills grenade still potentially live and oozing some form of explosive or chemical, selection of shells, bullets, shell shot ( schrapnel ), Inside of the menin gate, at Ypres, Deville wood cemetery, not one of the largest by any means and there are getting on towards 200 !! in a very small area
Went on a school trip many years ago now and the memory is still fresh. Certainly agree it makes all other things fade into the background somewhat, knowing what they had to endure, for all the sides.
Is that a picture of you Lummox...? Handsome devil
