I quite like the Rizla sign. It's not a repro so can't be considered a trashy/inferior copy of an earlier sign. Chacun a son gout.

Hinkslamps, the Rizla is a repro/fantasy piece. I've seen several. There is a selller who does a few of the big fairs, he sells only repro & fantasy pieces. The Rizla sign was never made in the format which Banjoboy posted above. The second we start believing repros/fantasy pieces are the real deal, the hobby is going to suffer.

Zack4 I think you contradict yourself in your post: "The Rizla sign was never made in the format which Banjoboy posted above"....therefore it's not a repro.
I don't like it that much...I'm just saying it's very slightly more interesting than the tragic 5 Boys repros knocking around on ebay.

Hinkslamps, being perdantic, doesn't make it an original period shop enamel. If you want to beieve it is so, then enjoy it.

Henk kindly showed us the original. The one banjo showed is a fantasy piece. Much like the poison cabinet shown on another thread. Do you think they are original, because they aren't copies of original cabinets?

My post was to inform up and coming collectors who read & learn from these forums - that the Rizla is not the real deal.  A statement such as yours clouds the issues.

Let's agree that there are:

Originals

reporoductions (new)

Fantasy signs (new)

and that there are people who sell repro's/fantasy signs as old originals (while making damages on the NEW signs) => big problem

and people who sell them as what they are: new. => no problem (my opinion)

Zack4 I'm baffled by your post. It's not pedantic to say it's not a repro.
The original that Langcat posted looks nothing like the one banjoboy posted.
Therefore it's not a repro - and furthermore saying it's not a repro should in no way implies it's an 'original period enamel' or whatever.
What I'm saying is very straightforward - it would only 'cloud the issue' for people who are incapable of thinking clearly.
Basically Langcat is right in what he says.
