From 1942 to 1945 Whitman's sent six million pounds of candy to American servicemen serving overseas. The tin had a key attached to the base for easy opening and was meant to be bright and cheerful. I don't recognize the big city scene. It could be New York or just a fantasy skyline meant to appeal to a larger audience.
