Shame somebody has put a cannonball through it , Mick . It's a bit of a plain Jane to be honest . Doesn't "float my boat".

Didn't mean to lasso you in Trix 😀....Anyways it would be a good one to have weld repaired and painted in, I'm going out on a limb here but I'm thinking 1880s

Found a little info on the Edinburgh Rope Company here, changed names in 1855 to Edinburgh Ropery and Sailcloth Manufactury , no way this sign could be pre 1855????

If it is pre 1855 that would make it the oldest enamel sign I’ve ever seen.

I agree Hinks, but there sure seems to be a lot of missing knowledge on pre 1890 signs, they definitely were around earlier than that but with lack of photographic evidence from that era, some of this info seems to have been lost to time

Looks like it could clean up some, with the center repaired and painted in, could be a neat one. Typeface is so neat

Are you sure you two aren't losing the plot , LOL.  Look at it , it's a dog's breakfast for crying out loud . It's beyond redemption .

yeah but Trixie, its not even been cleaned yet, looks quite dirty and with paint splatter, but could clean up half decent, then repair the center?? Worth doing as its quite an early one and deserves it !
