A small Hudsons pail enamel sign just sold on ebay uk for £173...Is this now the kind of prices being fetched for fairly modern enamels .(called "vintage" now) ..Years ago I never kept enamels, always sold them on..I once took two pictorial cigarette enamels to a large car boot my wife was standing , selling just bric a brac and clothes.

.Enamels in pretty good condition, edge nibbling ,  £12 each ..nobody was interested   !!!...took them home

No..pictures of a cigarette packet on both and completely genuine. 1930s

Damaged enamels tended to be ignored, as good ones could be found at most fairs at reasonable prices .   A friend bought at a fair a lovely Hudsons clock giving lighting up times  £10..true but hard to believe .....(though it was the late1980s)

I heard about a pub refurbishing company in the 1980s buying damaged enamels for peanuts and decorating pubs with them.,.giving them a theme. I visited a pub in Manchester called I think "The Sad Irin "  ..hundreds of different smoothing irons inside.

A pub in Shardlow near Derby covered their walls with Victorian and Edwardian card adverts..Any more interesting "themed" pubs?..(please not horseshoes)

I dream of having a country pub, shop garage one day. Make it all like a museum and have fine ales and food available. Sort of a retirement plan.
