 hi

i just wondered what peoples thoughts are on the future potential value of their signs and whether they may drop in price as the generations that bought them for nostalgia die off!! will the younger people want digital art ?

Hi Oddball. Just scroll down the site till you hit "Events , places , shows , auctions and fairs "  You will then see "Langcat" has posted , he is the continental expert on here . There is a site via Facebook called "Reklamevirus". Join that and you will get information on all things "foreign". You will need deep pockets if you go down that road , though .

What a crock of shite that is..Why such big money?? Look into the sign..Its got No detail at all..The smoke out the funnels is pathetic..The smoke on the fag on the bland Capstan sign as more detail than the above..Nothing stands out that catches your eye..I reckon the local primary school must have been running a competition the day this was made and this kids drawing won?? I look at some British made signs that i have seen loads of times before and im still amazed at the art work, detail and colours which on many is out standing..Never get fed up of looking at them..I cant get my head round these days how much some British signs are fetching,,but i sort of understand because many have become works of art..Even people who dont collect enamels are attracted to them and people from all walks of life have now started to appreciate them..Anyway thats my opinion..im not on this British enamel sign collectors forum to upset those from overseas,,but fuck me that Dull, bland sign above is way way over priced in my eyes..Thank the Lord we dont all like the same things👍🙏

Yes, it is ART.

And ART is a matter of taste. ;-)

Most certainly more buyers in the game these days.
My experience is mint stock is getting increasing hard to find.
I’m sure there are now speculators as well as those older mainstream collectors fighting over
the same lots driving prices up.
Will it continue? Looking stateside and in Europe, I’d say the best prices are in the UK at the moment.
As a genuine collector I can’t help thinking I’ve amassed a few bob over the pasted 20 years, but then again,
none are for sale, ever!

Yes your very right Henk, art is a matter of taste. Here you go fellas, Jackson Pollock painting that sold for $140,000,000, seriously I would not put that on my wall if you paid me. You could see a similiar paiting painted by a nobody at a local fair for a tenner, but because Pollock was a genius who knew where each drop of paint was going.....?
