Took the wife out on Boxing Day for  a leisurely breakfast

Still pouring rain , so I had planned to get back , have a few beers and watch the Cricket .

We were only gone for two hours , but got back  to find I had missed the entire 1st innings .

Australia bundled out for a miserable 98

Why post this in " Useful tips and warnings " ?

We could do with some , that's why.

Oh well at least we are still world champions at    ....................... er ..... ...........

...................................  ...er ........................   ... .............  my phones ringing ....

Hello Relic----Found this ad at a Book fair many years ago-----Couldn't fathom out which year it was, as Sir Don wasn't captain.   With Lords help I sent a letter to the great man and received a very quick response-----What a provenance!.

Thought you would like to see the ad and the letter.

Hey RELICS

I know I might be a bit ' Prior ' but I reckon the Ashes might be ' Trotting '  back to Blightly fairly soon, especially after last night.

Anyway if  Ponting had got the mower fixed and cut that first day grass you might not have been in this mess

Thanks for showing those Guest repeat .

A very good find , I'd say , and to have the letter from the man himself ... Well that stuff would be in a Museum in this country .

When was the letter dated , looks to be typewritten .

I had the good fortune to meet Don Bradman quite a few years ago at a Cricket function.

A very likeable and humble man . He referred to himself as a reluctant hero.
We could use a few like him at the moment .

Cheers

Steady on Lummox .
I'd like to think that it's not over yet
I'd like to think I could afford a Maseratti too.

Ponting you say .. name rings a  bell ... I think he used to be Captain .

Anyway, I have heard that there is disharmony in the English camp
Apparently the middle order are quite disgruntled . They are sick of the opening pair staying at the crease for two days and hogging the limelight .

It has been reported that the Australians have been trialling some new technology at a secret camp outside of Melbourne ..    First picture appeared on Wikileaks this morning .

Bring back the Good days

More of this ...

and less of this .....

Relics

Oh yes and more of this as well

Hi  Relics,

Its Official,     I have now ' counted my chickens ' and the little urn is staying put ..........Sorry !

Going back to your earlier pictures it seems that once again the Aussie practice sessions have been way off beam.

1)  It was glaringly obvious that opener Hughes would struggle to run singles with such a big bat. Or indeed as fellow opener Watson later commented "  Elementary "

2)  This game is being held at the MCG.  Your last picture clearly shows Australia are still in the ' Perth ' pitch mentality ................Concentrating on ' Bouncers ' .   Clearly again     ' as in the picture '    with a    ' green top '    you need to pitch it up.

Lessons to be learned methinks

Lummox  ( Pom and Proud )  till the next time !

G'day Lummox

And well counted chickens they were
We were clearly beaten by a better side and one that will only improve .

My interest in Test Cricket has been revived by this English side.
They " have a go " and all Australians respect that .
It's actually refreshing to see " the old enemy " back in form

I reckon  I should look for some decent accommodation near Lords.
I'll be up for that one in a couple of years
( We might have found some good players by then ).

Anyone want a Tenner on the Fifth Test ?
If the Aussies get up, that will throw the cat amongst the pigeons .
England have not been successful in Australia for 24 years
And remember , we've held the Ashes for most of the last 24 years .
Good luck with that !

Did you hear that Richie Benaud is retiring from his commentating position.
Might be an opportunity for you
You obviously have a decent grasp of the Queens English and a flair for the flamboyant .

I can the just hear the ABC's introduction....

"We welcome to the commentary box,  Mark Taylor, Tony Greig ,  and Lummox "

Cheers

 You're on then !

Ponting is after all in the top 5 all time batsmen list
Despite the fact that your mob are eager to sink the boot in , I'll back him to have one more good knock in him.
