eddy1 passed away this morning aged 39 after bravely fighting illness for three years . 1 will miss his jokes his overwhelming enthusiasm for all things collectable ,ringing me at all hours  day and night to talk about an old enamel sign nailed to a old shed roof  or some broken bottles in a wood, or to talk about his hero steve the tykes latest find ect, ect, ect, he was a good man.

Oh my word. That has come as quite a shock. I have just sent a parcel of signs to him. I knew he had been in and out of hospital, but didn't realise it was that bad. My sincere condolences to Eddy's friends and family and to you too Joe. Although I never met Eddy, I got the impression that he was a great bloke from his forum posts and phone conversations. Seems very unfair to be taken away at that age.

Al.

Just logged in & I'm totally gutted on hearing this news, absolutely gutted. I know its perhaps a cliche but Eddy really was one of the nicest blokes you could have met. I bumped into him at the local Saturday car boot in York many a time and we always had a great laugh about the stuff we had (or perhaps had not) seen on the stalls, winding each other up something rotten. Then he would turn up at some of the most obscure of auctions out here in the sticks and be gobsmacked to see me there too, and yet again we would rib each other up about the lots we were going to bid on. The same again at Driffield Steam auction. Sadly, we never got around to having a drink together in the Maltings in York, despite promising so many times, with all the enamel signs on the walls to gawp at, which I'm sure would have turned into another great ribbing night out. I know he was very, very keen on the Witch Soap there. The next time I'm in I'll have a drink to you Eddy lad. God bless you, and heartfelt condolences to your family. The Tyke

I contacted him through the forums and emails a while back.

A very helpful and funny bloke .

I did not have the good fortune to meet him, but wish I had .
I know I would have liked him .
