Al,

I'd like to give an opinion and hope it doesn't cause offence. I think you need to be slightly more selective as to what goes in the shop. There seems to be pages and pages of tins of little or no value, certainly to anybody who might frequent or even chance upon this site. This isn't the place to be buying a 1970's tatty St Bruno for 50p - eBay's ther if you want that. Personally, I find reams of cheap tins off-putting and often can't be bothered to scroll through to find the good stuff!!

Do any other site members have a view?

Otherwise, great site.

Hello There Cook Jnr

I'm sorry but i disagree with you on this one.

I'm sure collectors on here who high value tins also have cheap tins in thier collection and do or have brought a cheap tin if they liked the look of it. In the backgrounds of people pictures they post on here you can usally spot a cheapie but whats wrong with that? Does it detract?

Surely its not to hard to scroll through a few pages of tins to hopefully find something that takes your fancy. The new stuff uploaded is always on the first pages anyway.

Why be more Selective? Seems to me there is something for everyone for however much or little you have to spare.

The cheap tins i would have thought be more affordable for the new collector who is just starting off his/her collection.

If the worse came to the worse and people disagree a few simple tick boxes for

under a £5

Under a £20 ect

would sort that problem out?

I think the shops great Al got my thumbs up

Fair enough.

I'm not saying the shop isn't a good thing, and I'm grateful to Al for making it available to members and the public. I do feel there is a lot of stuff in there that appeals to a very, very small amount of people. I do scroll through the pages looking for the good stuff anyway. I've done a 4-hour ebay stint so I think I can cope with these pages!!

Like I said, not out to cause a ruckuss, just a little personal feedback, even if I am in the minority.

I tend to agree with Cookster on this one
I would have thought that a site with the status of this one would be the place to find A grade advertising pieces in the shop ..

The A grade items are still on the site of course, but not in the shop . Members advertise quality items  in the For Sale section . Much horse trading still occurs between members without being advertised at all, and that's a good thing ..

It can be a little tedious wading through hundreds of lesser items in the shop in the hope of finding a good piece.

I hope in time , that the shop will include quality items , but that will only happen if a few members put up a selection of quality bits without the lesser pieces.
Only time will tell .. If the lesser items are selling regularly then it must be working .

Having said that , I must admit to finding a few great additions to my collection earlier this year ( . Quality items and all  from the shop ) .

Keep up the good work Al

Hi there folks.

Yes I will put this filter and others in place. Its the first thing on the list.

It is worth noting though that there is a lot of volume sold through the site with the idea of promoting collecting as an affordable and fun thing to do. This is where I make a crust. Having said this, half my collection and hundreds of more seriously top quality tins are on their way.

Cheers.

Al.
