I have touched on this firm before but I am amazed at how many brands were produced by this company. The company was founded in the early 1850's and were based at York St Belfast. Over the years they bought out a number of other companies including: I.T.Illingworth & Sons, Robinson & Sons, J.A Pattrieouex, Carrick & Co, Peter Jackson Ltd, (Du Maurier Cigarettes) and also Harvey & Davey of Newcastle. Some of their early brands incl: "Gold Plate","Daystar","Paragon", "Nutcracker","Park Drive","Condor"etc, etc. This post would be an ideal opportunity for forum-members to post their examples of this firms products. They have some super showcards and tins. I will start off with my "Gold Plate" showcard & tin.

Hi Bacco

As you know they produced a lot of signs featuring female images. This is one of my favourites.

Hi Buzby,

You are quite right, "Gallaher" featured a lot of beautiful ladies on their showcards like yours and I hope we will see some more posted. This one posted is a bit of a "Dandy" character.

Hi AL & rustytins,

Super "War Horse" tin sign. That "Late & Early" tin is great and looks to be the same size as my "Two Flakes" counter tin and camwal, I like the "Nutcracker" & "Golden Bar". I have the "Columbine" which is also a nice tin.

Have posted my "Rich Dark" Honeydew. This lady is very pretty but  looks as though she has real attitude????

Hi Broadie,

I like your oval "Gold Plate" & "Golden Bar" tins. I have posted two different versions of the "Two Flakes" tins which identify the strength of the tobacco and also posted my "Zuro" flake tin.

Hi Bacco I have had this zuro flake for a good few years I had no idea it was Gallaher  until now, closer inspection I have found London and Belfast on the sides. How old is the brand?.

Hi Broadie,

Have not been able to find out much on the "Zuro" flake tin. But it is on the 1902 price list. It is a funny brand name and always reminds of the masked crusader whose name I think was  "Zoro" ????

Have posted my "Park Drive" showcard which I find quite amusing. There is a lot more Gallaher showcards/tins out there. So don't be shy, post them!!
