hello all. i have to admit right now that i am totally out of my depth. we are at this moment clearing out grandmother in laws house to pay for her care. everything has to be sold, and because of the type of person she is we are getting the valuers in for most of her stuff. however we have been boxing up some stuff to sell at car boot sales. today whilst sorting one of these boxes out i came across one or two things that i feel maybe worth a tad more than a car boot sale 50p or a £1. whilst im not saying these things are antiques or rare, i do think thy are worth a little and i need some advice. unfortunaltey i have lost my camara so cant take pics so hopefully my descriptions will be enough. i should also point out that i have goggled these items and am not having much luck.
firstly i have a wemyss honey bee jar 12/13cm tall. its not white more of a cream, with no cracking or glazing on it. the hande is a little bee. the banding round the lid isnt wavy like some of the designs but a straight band. it doesnt have one or two bees on it rather more. it is the classic design on the jar of the hive on a table with a little fence and a few trees with like i said many bees. on the bottom is the mark G. Hill pottery wemyss and then off to one side a mark that looks like Gs or Gh.
then i have a winterling bavaria coffee pot, with the mark western germany on the bottom. i have had a little more luck on this and i have now found that it dates from the 1960-70's. it is white with silver band around the top part and the handle is is square.
i do have a few more items but i will leave them for now.
many thanks all
