recently i baught a colemans 8 sided  tin,i knew it was a repro due to the curled edges on the lid and at 10p i didnt mind, but looking on ebay and google in general it would appear so many folk try to pass these off as victorian tins, on the cans in small lettering it sayes "replicans bedford england" surely this is a clue? i can find no information on the company does anyone know more about them?i can only find 3 tins made by them on the net, this one,a castrol oil jug and a ladies powder tin.

Hi Fish,
I think they did the Cadburys pods tin and the players hero tin. Nice enough and what else can you buy for 10p. Trouble is they reduce the value of the real tins as so many are made.
A lot of people pass things off on Ebay as old and they are repro etc. Ebay never do anything about it. Replicans says it all though!

There are quite a few replicas out there, but if you have handled many tins, they are pretty easy to spot, even in a little photo.

They are often honestly described, Dodo Tins, etc. But I have seen serious sellers mis-describe them and even worse, serious buyers bidding on them. (back when ebay displayed the bidders ID)

Dodo tins must be coming up for 40 years old I guess. So perhaps they are collectable in their own right. But to describe them as cigarette tins, when they are novelty tins should be against ebay policy.
