Hallo all tin fans, could someone please point me to the best British auction house to sell large collection of British tins? All comments welcome - thanks a lot!

Best
Mads

Thanks ciggy - but we are talking rather a large number - Huntley and Palmer alone amounts to almost 200,
and that is only the beginning, an estimate is around 400 british tins with producers names, another maybe
400 with no name - and including tins from other countries probably we end up at close to close to 1500 - if not more.

So taking photos/descriing/selling/shipping individually or in smaller lots would be too time consuming.
Any other suggestions? - Mads

In absolute honesty, talk to Nigel (Rusty Tins). We have bought collections in excess of 15,000 together.

The sellers weighed up the options and realised that the market for top end tins is so small you are better off with a well connected (honest) dealer as overall you will win out. Yes some auction houses may get big prices for certain items but when averaged out with the hundreds of lots that are either ringed or slip the net you could well do better this way.

Yes I am biased towards the dealer, but we are often the ones who have to wait years to get our money back on the run of the mill items. For example the unbranded tins may not sell for much in any combination of lots, but the auction house will still take their cut.

Anyway best of luck, always sad to split up a collection.

Regards.

Al.

Fair point.

Foreign and unbranded tins are not the sort of lots Bamford's would go for though. Just think of all the tins left after the Metal Box sale!

Ken, you lazy thing- just cos you don't fancy driving. Bamfords is a decent choice though. BBR is also known for advertising items.
