Many thanks Bacco, fantastic response.

A pack of baccy must have been cheaper than a tin I guess. So now I'm thinking that buying a tin of baccy, or even cigarettes wouldn't have been an everyday thing. Would these packs have been seen as refills?

Hi Hilbert & Too Old, Too Cold,

Most pipe tobacco was kepts in stoneware storage jars and was sold loose and cut to customers size and put in a paper bag for the customer to take home and store in his own tobacco jar. Tins and packets were more convenient to carry with you. (See storage Jars in shop picture)

There should be some of my shop collection in the archive section, however, have posted a couple to save time in searching .

Hi hilbert,

No! the shop is in the garage as I wouldn't get it in the house. Have posted another nice counter-tin "Two Flakes" by Gallaghers. It is in superb condition.

Have posted another couple of counter-tins. "Old Chums" is a very early brand of tobacco by a very old company Charlesworth & Austin Ltd, London. Also, "Brown Beauty" tobacco manufactured by E.W Anstie Ltd, Devizes.

Bacco

Not so rare I guess but a nice example and a less common size and shape.
