This is a nice small tobacco tin by Salmon & Gluckstein. Not aware of the Ixion Brand but most manufacture's did a "Cut Golden Bar". In 1899 this company had 120 shops which were taken over by ITC in 1901/02. Catalogues from this company were nicely illustrated with colour plates of their products.

 Hi Bacco that's a nice tin. I think ixion is from Greek Myth but no idea how it fits into S and G .   I have posted a pack of playing cards with the same name on cheers Broadie.

Seem to remember that Ixion was fixed to a winged wheel and sent spiaraling through the cosmos for eternity.
