a little thornes extra super creme toffee tin, the mark over the picture isnt damage, it seems to be plastic, as if melted on? i have left it on as i do not want to scratch the tin itself.

Sellotape maybe?

Lighter fuel sometimes works.

Bridkid,

You could probably just buy a mint one on eBay. They are quite common in all honesty. Not as satisfying maybe, but less work!

hi cook, i know what you mean, i prefer to find my stuff at least it has a story behind it then, my best tin is a bulwark tobacco tin, with sailor looking out to sea, absolutely mint, dont know if its worth out, but to me its priceless, my mum has a good collection, a few very nice tins

Hi Brid, Sometimes the paste/gum used on old tins has affected the surface below. I usually try painting on tepid water with a soft paint brush to soak into the paper. Then carefully remove the paper, sometimes the gum comes with. Sometimes its wrecked the print underneath. Give it a try it might be worthwhile! Jez
