When did they stop making petrol globes out of glass?

...and how old are the earlist plastic ones? Is it worth buying plastic ones? or are these just repro?

Im on the lookout for my first one or maybe more, but know little about them...

Help would be appreciated...

Generally last ones were made from glass in the 60's. I believe some were made from plastic as far back as the 40's. Don't exactly know when the repro's started. Have a look at Alan Chandlers Petroliana site. That will give you a good idea of the variety of globes

Can't imagine the repro-ing plastic globes, but then again!
