Purchased last Sunday - Haven't found too many references to these jugs on the web so I'm guessing you don't see too many of these around. However, I did find out that Mann Crossman & Paulin Ltd were taken over by Watney, Combe, Reid & Co. Ltd in 1958 to become Watney Mann so I'm assuming this jug dates from before then - maybe even 1930's? Stands approx 4" high (10.5 cm) and is marked beneath with: Shorter Bros - Elephant Pottery - SE.1

Thanks for confirming the 1935-40 date - I did think it might be pre-war as opposed to after.
