This time yesterday, I was cursing when my browser froze during an online auction and I missed the lot I was keen on.

Today me and the Missus went out for lunch, I of course then wanted to check out a couple of antique shops in the little town we were in. We looked through the first shop, as I was leaving, I turned to the owner to say "Have a good day mate". I noticed in the back office over his shoulder a flash of colour, I asked about the sign, he said he just got it in and hadn't put it in the shop yet. I bought it at a very cheap price, it's all about the timing, being at the right place at the right time.

Great find! Hope that goes some way to make up for the missed Shell oil can sign! I imagine the Lux is a good deal rarer though, and in better condition! And I'm sure another Shell can will come along before long, but maybe not another Lux sign. What size is it, as a matter of interest?

Your right seeker, another Shell sign will come along, someone got a bargain at 280 i reckon.

I had a Lux sign many years ago, which was about 30% restored, so I nearly fell over when I saw the condition of this one. I must be a good actor, because the shop owner obviously didn't realize how excited I really was.

Size is 36 x 18 inches.

What a belter, I actually use lux flakes when I wash my many woolen jumpers! It just goes to show that there still are some gems out there. I guess literally thousands of enamel signs were manufactured over the years which means they will still occasionally turn up...

Well done Gordo !!

That once in a while ( year !! ) find that gets some pennies back.

Don't really see it over here, more an Ozzie sign perhaps ?

Who is the maker please ?

I think this is the brother to the Lux sign. Made again by Simpson and sons, same size, made for Lever. Gordo

Looks like its designed to sit on the right hand side of the first one if you look at the hill and black tree line.
