Hi, have a 'Lightning Protectors on Block Circuits' hanging instruction card from a signal box. It's gone all brown from either being exposed to oil burning lamps and/or dust, it's legible but I thought it could do with improvement. Any pointers for cleaning without causing damage? Thanks

Hi there. Persil washing powder with tiny bit of moisture and rubbed in gentle can work - it can also wreck it

Thanks, I think (!)

I'll give it a shot at a small corner and see how it goes.

Something like Jif or Cif let down 50 - 50 with water. Try a small inconspicuous area first. Make sure the sign has a glaze or varnish. Uncoated card will only clean with an artists putty rubber or get some cheap white bread pull the crusts off and roll into a ball and use like a rubber. As soon as it gets black get another slice! Bread is bad in the long term, a soft rubber dies exactly the same thing as you correctly stated!

Sorry
