Hello To everyone,
Is is sometime since I posted here and that is primarily because I haven't been able to get photo's to list. My compliments to Al for sorting the listing problem out for me.
The attached sign I got from South Africa and I have never seen another one--that's not to say there aren't any others about. The stuff advertised on this sign was banned in America in the 1920's, however, it was used up until the mid 1930's in Australia. The sign itself is 3ft 6inches by 2ft 6 inches and in good nick.
I l;ook forward to showing more stuff soon, now that the picture loading has been sorted. Regards, George Grant |

Hello David,
Where has that one been hiding? Excellent sign and it just goes to show no matter how good you reckon your signms might be there is always one that is better. Thanks for showing that one.

G'day Hubbly Bubbly,
Thanks for showing those two. I've never seen the one on the left where the bloke is looking into the packet. That is a classic. I've got the one on the right and I have actually got two different types of that and by that I mean the writing is slightly different.
The Cooper box is also a bloody ripper too so the signs are out there and among collections. If ever you feel that need to part with them then I'd be very glad if you contacted me but I won't hold my breath as they are fantastic signs so well done.
Regards,
George Grant (Rusty Cutters) |

Here are the two Cooper signs that have slightly different writing on them. One was obtained in Australia and the other was purchased in South Africa.

Here are two Cooper signs that were obtained from Argentina. Obviously both in Spanish writing but none the less appealing. The writing says, Universal Remedy, for curing the sheep.

hi George-been thinking abot responding to you.I was offered first choice on this sign about 5 years ago for $16000.I was sworn to secrecy on the sign not to show anybody which i havent until now. As i dont own a bank i had to let it go.It started off in the UK and then was offered to a well known sign and shell collector in Perth who purcahsed it.He sold it back to the same dealer who has now sold it to a collector in New Zealand where i think it will be staying.Hopefully i will be forgiven for sharing the pic but i cant imagine theres another one out there and us mad enamophiles love to see new signs--sorry if anyone is offended by my unloyalty, but i couldnt help it--David |

Hello David,
Thanks for your reply. No worries about all that and I know who owned it and where it went to WA. I hadn't realised it went to NZ so that it interesting. There are some excellent pieces about aren't there?
I can tell you about a Coopper sign called "President" that is now owned by a very well known UK collector that has an interesting story attached to it.
The bloke who owns it now found out that a fellow in Australia had the sign and it was the only sign that the bloke had left from an auction he conducted in the late seventies. Now, the current owner was visiting Australia and he did some detective work and tracked the previous owner to Victoria and gave hime a call. "Is the President sign for sale", he inquired.
"No mate" came the reply. "How about 3000- quid for it", was the next question. At that price the bloke near fell out of his seat and sold it. At the time the English pound was worth about three Australian dollars and I know for a fact that the previous owner paid $65.00 for the sign at the Camberwell market one Sunday morning. Not a bad mark up!
