I think there should be a section on here dedicated to stories of how people have obtained their signs over the years? (other than ebay, collectors fayres, etc)

I think many people would get in trouble!

We had quite a few collectors leave the forums when people started talking about speed-rescuing signs.

I'll kick off enameljoy with a legit tale...
Al had this sign off me many years later. It was a monster.
We went to a closed down shop (with permission) and keys and got quite a few nice bits all for free sometime mid 80s. The shop was being demolished for a road improvement.
On the building was a giant Spillers sign about 7feet by 4. And as it was for free my old man wanted it.
We went over with the Austin Maxi and a trailer and were in the process of removing it when a panda car pulled up with two coppers on board.
They asked us what we were doing and my Dad replied - taking the sign away of course. They didnt seem convinced but my old man told them who he was and where from...
They ended up helping us as they had no crimes to deal with. We loaded the sign and left, I guess the coppers thought you couldnt make it up.
I wish I still had the Ogdens cabinet from there - sold way too cheap.

I thought I had a hit this morning, old pig shed. Saw some enamel sign looking metal from a road junction.Went and explored (very blatantly) this morning. 3 scabby fire backs. Boo. Keep hunting.!
