I don't know about you, but I find it really hard to tell how big a sign is when it's high up on a blank wall!

Many years ago I spotted two very dirty Virol signs, high on a brick retaining wall, on the railway line going north from St.Pancras Station. Not expecting to hear anything, I approached British Rail, and asked if there was any chance of having them! They duly took my phone number, and said they'd get back to me. (Heard that one before, I thought!) To my great surprise, I got a call from British Rail, saying they'd managed to get them for me! So one lunch time I went off to Euston where they were waiting for me. The price they asked was around £30 a piece............but they were absolutely huge! So after all that , I just had to leave them behind, but I was impressed with BR though! It probably cost them more to get thjem down! Wonder where they went to; perhaps Al has them now?

Great story!

I bought one off ebay the other week and it was 6ft long. Just assumed it was the small size, never seen such a big one. No wonder it was pick up only!

Cheers

Al.

This three piece Shell sign must have been about 2 x 2 1/2 metres. I don't like wasting that much wall space.
