Brillscote Farm Auctions .... dodgy goins on there was aplenty!!

Try sellin' 'em owt - not a chance - but they would BUY off you - at a very low price?

Used ter luv gettin' their catalogue - such variety...... but................. all good things come to an end, lol!

Hey Mr B......nothing dodgy went on with the Relic boys at Brillscote......just straight forward auctioneering...which I'm sure ,as an auctioneer yourself, you are well aware of !...as for your last line "all good things must come to an end ...lol"...you need to realise that Relic were extremely important in the advancement of advertising collecting...they handled in extraordinary quantities the most amazing variety and quality of advertising items...the like of which will never be seen again...this went on relentlessly for three decades or so and in the early years they were way ahead of their time and saved a huge amount of items that would have made their way to the tip...we are not just talking about signs etc but whole shop fronts...complete period shop interiors and the most amazing Vicky gin palaces and fabulous pub interiors etc...this was alongside their love of fairground and carousel items plus all manner of folk art and decorative wares...I was fortunate in being priveledged to see on a weekly basis over many years the amazing stuff that went through their warehouse and shop....you just would not believe the treasures they handled...I cannot praise them high enough and will always treasure their friendship and knowledge.....ok,rant over!

Point taken hasbeen - apols - didna mean ter offend, and cap in hand fer yer rant - you were a lucky one to be a part of it all back then.

My own experience of tryin' to enter material is where I based my comment. Not simply straightforward ter just offer up for open auction goods of reasonable quality as with a standard auction - it was the 'early days' so I guess not comparable to current trading methods.

However, I can only agree 100% - mindbogglingly great range of material over several years - and just wonderful to behold - I treasured the catalogues arriving.
