Got this collectors grade 41 cal colt thunderer today,,all original including the nickel finish,,it was a bit pricey but I had to have it,,,these model 1877s were made in three calibres 38 lightning,,,32 rainmaker,,and 41 thunderer,,john wesley hardin carried a thunderer,,so did billy the kid,,doc holliday carried two lightnings in shoulder holsters,,colt produced a lesser amount of rainmakers making them hard to find today.

Joe...........

Do these still fire ? have you ever tried and is it true that these guns were not in fact very accurate outside a few paces ?

Another great looking piece by the way

Hello Ross,,no I don't fire these antiques, but they are all in working order,,black powder licences can be bought, but shooter tend to fire modern percussion revolvers,,as for the distance,,smooth bore barrels are not very accurate,,these colts have rifled barrels and a good man can hit a playing card at 50 yards.

Yes I was shooting clays there last weekend, its a good spot with some interesting ranges. When you've run out of clays you can move onto the seagulls OOPS SORRY I mean woodpigeons !!
