Slowly Scratching My Head

Hello everyone..yet another Newbie.

The question that I have is, if anybody can tell me anything about these curious pump fronts that I have obtained please.

"">""[/URL]" />

I have not seen Whitbread tankard in this form before only in the common alloy jug with it's foaming head.

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

Duncan.

Drat the image is not showing so I'll try to explain them...

They are pewter lidded tankards with the lids soldered shut, they have the Whitbread Harts head on the front with ESTd 1742 scribed either side of the head.

Mounted on plastic mounts which have the words London Tankard.

Hi Duncan,
Without pictures its very difficult to help out. Pump fronts are never high value items but nevertheless attract a following as does all breweriana.
You may find they are a brew that Whitbread trialled in the 60s or 70s and was not a successful beer and that may make them unusual and rare.
That said I dont think you are sitting on a fortune. Whitbread like all the big brewers at that time sanitised and formulated the drinkers choice. Breweriana from the lesser known and defunct breweries is always a good bet and has a strong following. Jez.
