 I ahve been after a drawing table for ages! 

Always wanted a nice one and not to big.

Here is what a found a few weeks ago during our garage sales visits.

According to the previous owner it came from a ship.

When you say lectern; would you mean for charts & maps...!? Because a book wouldn't fit.

Yes perhaps for charts or maps, rarer than a drawing table and easier to fit into a domestic setting.
