It's that time of year again - when you all turn your heads toward festive merriment..... BUT - DON'T forget the importance of booking your spot/ table at the BIG kick off event of the year down at sunny Elsecar.

BBR should be fully esconsed into our new saleroom premises for the Saturday auction (FREE catalogue pdf - orderable - 2 weeks prior).... & there's plenty of 'juicey stuff' lined up for the Sunday catalogued auction alongside the BIGGEST UK Winter Fair, the 120 dealer Antiques Fair.... & more!!!

Get booking........................ & have a good Xmas.

Will try to post somat in a day or so - especially as I have some EXCITING NEWS REGARDING ADVERTISING which should interest many on this forum.

The fabulous Fussell's Ales mirror flew to £1,500 in the Sunday auction

I have TWO moans - both concerning Advertising collectors, probably both on this forum.
1. We have an ongoing issue/ problem with one resident which could jeopardise future Elsecar Shows. I therefore ask, nay INSIST nobody parks on the rd or arrives before 7.15. One said stallholder said as there's no yellow lines he can park where he wants & I am seeing it from the wrong angle? Feedback to: alan@onlinebbr.com please!
2. An advertising 'dealer' @ the Saturday Unreserved auction performed a really sorry act!! He was stood enjoying a 50p cup of coffee during the sale (we had an honesty box - sadly not very honest several told us!!!!) but this fella espied one auction lot of miniature whiskies by his side - so he reached over, picked one out of the tray poured contents into his coffee….. and placed the empty back in!!! Some might think that's just laughable - I don't.

Thanks for the phone calls & emails concerning my above two gripes about some poor behaviour slightly tarnishing the week-end - it gets worse though, seemingly, & I'm a tad embarrassed to mention other stuff, but - better out in the open?

Transpires several "honest collectors" (well, it could be the same few, or could be adding to more?) were pretty "active" at taking teas & free coffees without putting ANYTHING in the honesty box.

Am I being harsh in saying it's no more than a kick in the teeth whilst attempting to lay everything as convenient as possible, OR - does it mean we really do have a good number of thieves in our flock?

By April we will be fully installed in the new place & the serving girls will oversea refreshments, BUT - BE DULY WARNED - my CCTV will be state of the art, very very VERY discreet, and we WILL be watching you.

To all who stole from myself & the Deli could I pass gracious heartfelt thanks & hope the need to do such makes you feel so much better after everything I do to make Elsecar events as enjoyable & friendly as they are.

Off soapbox, lol!!!!

I think the money that mirror went for should have outshone anything else AB

Actually fancied it mesen - but her indoors didna!

Came from a retiring Midlands Antiques. She told me some well known TV folk had pestered her to sell it, as had a few advertising collectors. Top offer - £450. She wanted a reserve of £450 on it - but AB said "no reserve - it will find its own level."

Several (four figure) underbidders ensured it would perform well on the day - but it fell to two determined collectors in the room.
