This Muratti cigarette tin produced for Anglo American Oil Co Ltd and given as a complimentary gift to users of "Pratt's Perfection Spirit". In times past oil companies would use various tobacco related items to promote their products, matches, ashtrays, lighters and cigarettes. This is a great cross promotional item with Pratt's motor spirit and great that it has survied in good condition. Will just fit nicely in my cabinet. I would date this around 1919. Has anyone else come across similar cross promotional items????

(There is a picture of the tin in the PETROLIANA publication Alan Charmer P.10)

Fantastic little tin Bacco. Only ever seen one other and it fetched a very decent price.

The only cross promotional tins I can think of, off the top of my head, would be the shippping line cigarette tins. Do they count?

 Hi Hilbert,

Glad you like the tin. I would agree that shipping line tins  have a cross over interest and have posted my American Line tin which was posted a while back.

I have a bunch of images of various shipping line tins but I don't own any myself.

Both Fry and Cadbury did a range of sample size liner tins.

Does anyone know if they were just a series or if they were made for and sold specifically on the associated ships?
