Bought the above tin from Ebay already had one from Al so I was thinking maybe make one from two. The tin arrived in the post this morning and I was disappointed that the tin was quite badly creased on the lid and very dirty. I remembered my late Dad's adage about Elbow grease (thought that it came it tins when I was very small, no really) and set to. I think it came up well. The image is of fairies and perhaps Titania Queen of the Fairies? Shakespeare I think, not sure as my Shakespeare knowledge is virtually none. Sovereign Toffees of Lowton, Lancs. Why was so much toffee made in the North, was it a working class thing, cheaper than chocolate? Anyway my toffee tin addiction is getting out of hand, will post pics of how bad it's got in just over a year!

Nice tin Jezmond. You can't go wrong with fairies and sexy women. I always get a great amount of satisfaction when I am able to transform a filthy tin into a keeper. I have managed to become quite good at looking at tins on Ebay and deciding if they are cleanable or not. It has netted me some real bargains.

Hey Vlad,
I took a gamble on this for that very reason. I think it came up well. I am also going through the upgrading where possible technique. If the tin's rare I always buy it and hope I can transform them like above. However, I do seem to have a mountain of tins that still need cleaning!
