Not mine, but what a great early Canadian piece. Can't be many of these around.

Hey Mick, there are at least 30 of them. They came out of an old cottage in Quebec. They were mounted upside down on the cottage's ceilings, like a "poor mans" old tin type tile ceiling ( most of the backs are painted). The guys who were ripping them down had no clue what they had. Hence the crowbar marks on most of them. The owner of the cottage walked in half way through the demolition & saved about 4 or 5 in undamaged condition. That was about 12 years ago. I was lucky enough to buy a few of them from the original buyer, when I was visiting my parents in Ontario. You can't really tell from the pictures, but all the packs are embossed, it's a really wonderful printed sign. I kept the best one I bought

Wow, rustytins, what an awesome story. Are you from Canada then too? This type of story is what keeps me hunting! Definitely Thos. Davidson makers mark at bottom. Its a crying shame that so many Canadian signs were tin and not enamel...they just haven't survived.

St. Thomas Metal signs and Thos Davidson were both big tin sign makers, although enamels have been found from both makers. I had a Thos Davidson book from 1911 which showed some of their enamel signs, but they were mostly simple typeface lettering type signs, very few with graphical pictures. On the other had, their tin lithography was absolutely world class.
