Couldn't find the old thread on this. Just thought I'd share this with like-minded folk. Picked it up for an absolute song, and it even comes with its' original pencil holder.
Anybody else got any new ones?

Came out of one of the York antique centres not all that long ago, for £10. Strictly speaking it is not a factory, but the building still stands, and has been restored for use as plush offices in St. Pauls Square, the 'lawyers quarter' in Leeds. Many years ago I worked in the building next door, and often wondered about the origins of this one, now I know!! The tin is quite small so if there were boots or shoes inside they must have been for a toddler of the day. |

Sorry to piss on your parade Steve, but that Public Benefit Boot tin is a repro. |

Well I'll bow to your greater knowledge, but it certainly convinced me. Tins aren't my main collecting avenue. Cheers. |

The giveaway is the edge of the lid, it's been turned over, which you don't find on old tins. It's done that way for safety reasons, the old tins are known as "finger gashers"! |

This is what one of the original looks like. There are a few different versions, with several different images around the side. Also a tin I picked up this morning. cheers |

Well both those tins Rusty seem to have turned over lid lips. I'm getting all confused now. I'd better stick to enamel signs forever I think, just to be certain !! |

It's an optical illusion. They're raised with a lip below the lid, and it looks like they're turned over, but they're not. Hope that helps. |
