I think thats a pretty early sign right there, pre 1900 in my opnion

Very rough looking enamel, not smooth and looks bubbly. Possibly puddled iron plate?

I've noticed that quite a few old newspaper enamel signs have makers' names on that I haven't see anywhere else. I wonder why this is.
I've got an ancient old sign for Daily News with the maker's name British Enamelled Iron Co Ltd which I've never seen on another sign.
