Does nothing for me, a dull sign - wouldn't pay 5% of that price

Yes as a sign it sucks - whether it's genuine or not.

It was auctioned by Lindsay Burns & Company of Perth, Perthshire. 3rd September, and was on Saleroom.

I bet Tom Browne never got a fee like that in his entire (albeit short) career as an artist! He worked in Nottingham's lace Market as a lad and based many of his characters on Nottingham folk. Real shame about the scratches on this sign - surprising price but it seems enamel values are still on the up for the right signs.

Not a bad price for such a rare enamel if you compare it to this 1960ish tin sign..£800

I'm with Cherryboy on this one, I'm not convinced of it's authenticity . It's got some nasty scratches on it too. It looks like thin mild steel to me, shouldn't an early sign such as this have been iron ? You need to have it in your hot sticky hands to be absolutely sure ,which is not possible of course. £7,0000 is an eye-watering amount of money if it's not right. What do others think ?

My reason why i think so,,A sign that early should be on pig iron..come on members jump off the fence and tell us what you reckon
