Hi, I have a good version of this and don't agree that it's dreary. The green may not be to everyone's taste but the fact it's got different coloured and varied lettering make it far from dreary to me. £450 seems a lot though, there was one at Elsecar a couple of years ago at £150 and in far better condition.

Would be interested in one but has to be in near mint condition. If anyone has one for sale, please contact me at embo1@xs4all.nl

Tiny difference if anybody spotted, the top says "Swiss Milk" and the bottom just says "Milk"

Yes I think it must have been something as well.

Like you said, maybe a sticker or paper of the chocolate bar depending on type? Or possibly by locale?
Maybe a tearaway calendar, where you pull off the note every day of the year?
Maybe the blank space was for the HANDLE of the push bar so that it could be mounted behind without obstructing the words????
