I wondered about that one, and will be interested to hear everyone's views! The front looks okay, and it's obviously not one of those small Lyons' Tea repros; it's a good size! But the back looks wrong; like so many of the repros that are around at the moment, with virtually no enamel remaining/acid washed. On balance, I'd plump for it being a reproduction. |

Hello sign-seeker. Yes pretty much my thoughts, especially looking at the back. |

The short answer is NO . It's a brand new rip-off . 1000 per cent . |

Its reproduction, although I'm surprised they went to the effort of creating a curvature to the sign. |

Follows on from the recent thread about deceptive repro's. Described as 'Rare and Old' but deliberately distressed to deceive. Look at all the others also being sold by the same seller! |

The 'damage' is always so naive around the screw holes on fakes |

I should have looked at the rest of the sellers stuff to start with; that would have instantly removed any smallest hint of a doubt! They're all exactly the same; just rusty backs, and not a trace of enamel! Horrible; yuck!!!! |

I know it’s not always the case, but have been seeing more and more of these ‘curvature’ signs out and about at some of the antique fairs – back in the good old days when we used to go outside… The other usual tell-tale indicator of these curvature sign imposters is a wash of dirty looking oil having been wiped over the sign. The sellers often mix these lookie-likie's with some real ones just to play with your head and hope you loose concentration for a second.

That would probably be about the right price for an original. Another dud sign sold to an unsuspecting buyer. |

Caveat Emptor If you can’t tell the difference between real/fake then you shouldn’t be buying ...specially on eBay. Only got yourself to blame. |
