Was given these a few months ago from a pub upgrade we did. I have done some research and i feel they are definately Enamel signs due to the grey enamel rear the chipping on the front shows the colours are all overlayed individually and all the graphics are overlayed on the white ground. The Ostrich is 20 1/2" x 14" and the Girder one is 20" x 14" now my question is although i am sure they are Enamel signs with ome age are they repros? look real to me but to be honest i can not find one original one that matches these for sale. Any help is much appreciated. Thank you

Hi antoni

Welcome to the forum, Even without pictures I can tell you with absolute confidence that they are " modern " copies or reproductions. Some were made by Dodo and Garnier in the 1980's and others for retailing from the Guinness shops linked to the Guinness Brewery in Ireland.

The designs you mention were never made as Original enamel signs, only as laminated showcards which date from the 50's and 60's. These designs have been variously copied over the years some as decorative pieces to be sold as such and some made to deceive. Sensible values these days probably £40 to £60 each.

Cheers lummox

They are real enamel signs, the " Guinness Brewing " in the corner confirms they are the ones made and sold in the Giunness Stores as decorative objects, from memory starting around 1995

cheers lummox
