Wow, what a terrific sign, but which side to display......................? I like the Guinea Gold I think. |

Isn't it better etiquette to discuss signs after they have sold , not mid flow Just thought . Cig |

I don't think that drawing people's attention to it on here will force up the final price, as it was properly listed on Ebay, and I expect pretty much every sign collector was aware of it anyway. |

just my opinion , to me seems better to leave things alone until done, yeah sure the WWW is visible to all but u never know .. plus commenting on someone's item in mid flow (positive or negative ) seems best not done .. just my opinion .. btw the Caporal is far the better , other sides dull & brown ... sorry seller ... lol see what I mean ... cig |

I know what you mean Ciggy, and I guess positive and negative comments could equally have some effect on the finishing price, although possibly fairly marginal? If I'd spotted something in a small local auction, and that was put on here for all to see, then I think I would be less than happy! |

HI Cig . It's not very often you read "sign collecting" and "etiquette" in the same sentence. In my experience ,if any thing is any good , it's "dog eat dog " . I did not post with the intention of " stirring the pot" ,it is after all a "discussion forum" .They don't call it the world wide web for nothing , do they ? Isnt it so the the world and his dog can see it .Anyway, Its 25 years since I bought mine , and I haven't seen another till today . I respect your point of view of course, but we can agree to differ sometimes I hope . |

Marcus , we can definitely agree to disagree in a constructive way, that's what makes the world go round, and yes etiquette and sign collecting these days are not 2 things that seem to go together often ... we agree !
Anything guinea gold / Ogdens is popular , just a great brand with some of the best colouring, design and typeface out there ... Ogdens Robin prime example , great double sided example with hanging flange on eBay at the moment - Cig |

Thanks for your reply ,Toby , and just in passing I 'd like to say ,if anyone one on here ends up buying it , it's a great sign to own . I've always thought mine to be in "good" condition ,which it is , but this one is actually better ,with a better gloss and deeper colours. When you think that it's from the 1890's , it's done really well . I expect it to sell to the guy with the deepest pockets and the biggest gonads! |
