Any feedback on this weekend show, heard it was very quiet. Two days is an overkill in my mind, splits the camp, both dealers and collectors opting for going either Saturday only or just the Sunday due to time and cost. Any other thoughts on this?

Agree-better to have one good, busy day rather than two mediocre, flat days (speaking from experience as a buyer on the Saturday and stallholder on the Sunday).Bring back the one day format! (but leave the Summernational as a special 2 day event)

For me the two day Summernational will always be the best UK event. The others also were great one day shows not to be missed but now since the two day format are starting to suffer.

lummox, you are the only person who knows my identity, bugger that means i'm stuffed for a bribe

Seriously though, two days feels like a stretch. Sure have a 2 day event once a year, but every show...? who can commit that time?  Extending shows has historically damaged them. Newark anyone?

I stand by my comment two days is Pants!

But thank god for the show. It really is one of the two good advertising shows left ( Aylesbury, being the other)- I appreciate all the barnsley Dons effort. I never miss it.

I mean where else can you see Al staggering about part comatose, buying up tat, while eating a bacon butty.

Hi Rusty ( Your secret is safe with me and apparently GS )

No I agree with you. Genolite Bob was bemoaning the length of the uncatalogued sat sale at an earlier show & the fact that 2 days was probably a stretch to far. The National yes.................a solid once a year event, but others almost certainly better as a tight one day event.

AB is damned if he does and damned if he doesnt. However I go along with the majority view that 2 days is OK for the Summernational but not the rest. You have to go on Sat, as it has become the main buying day.

Lets not forget the fuel costs if you go both days. For me its £20 a day,or stopping overnight at greater cost. They are long days and your weekend has gone.

It was a good try AB...worth seeing if it would work.It just doesnt for me.

Well for me it was around £140 for both days with the petrol, hotel for two days and my grub. Notice the "was", well I just could not justify it any more.

Damn you rusty tins, i was sober as a judge at the January bash!!!!!

I kind of liked the two day event because i blagged a floor to sleep on and had a really good social. I bought well both days but then again I am happy to buy anything!!! the uncatalogued auction was great and seemed to do far too well this time, looks like the best place to unload stuff without a stall these days. I may well put stuff in both auctions next time.

I think the number of people attending usually matches the number of items to be bought in a way. Lots of bargains equal lots of people trying and vice versa. You can go to an empty newark and get a bargain and go to a packed Newark and although it may have a better buzz you may only do as well as a winter one. For many lots of bargains and no buyers is the name of the game but i just don't think the stuff is out there in the quantities needed and at the low prices demanded to keep any show going really. There has to be a social angle to it as well and thats something AB has worked hard on too.

In all honesty i am just glad the shows still go on in any format.

Sorry i missed this one AB but i was lost in the jungle for a few weeks.

Al.
